The Barcelona Electrical Tourist Transport Association (BETTA) was formed in February 2016 after knowing the mayoral decree in the city of Barcelona to regulate the use of Personal Mobility Vehicles (VMP). In previous years such vehicles had proliferated, such as electric scooters, segways, tricycles, hoverboards, driven by electric batteries.
Context
Challengues
Given the abundance of this type of vehicles, the community of neighbors called for stronger control and better practices, by the users and companies that offered this type of mobility. Thus, BETTA needed to be an interlocutor recognized by the Barcelona City Council.
The strategy was constituted in two branches of action: media and lobby. On the one hand, All Media Consulting (AMC) managed contacts with the media representatives to position BETTA’s interests on the public agenda. In addition, we represented the organization, before the Barcelona City Council.
The creation of a calendar of meetings with public institutions at different levels, allowed to influence the regulation of VMPs, so as not to damage the tourist rental sector or the individual users of the vehicles, making this compatible with the feelings of the Residents and the promotion of sustainable mobility.
